Why Invention Education

Plenty of problems need solutions, but developing the ability to recognize problems that matter, and provide technological solutions to problems through hands-on, experiential learning makes invention education unique.

Along the way, students develop the hard and soft skills needed for tomorrow’s jobs.

The Lemelson-MIT framework teaches students how to look at a problem, analyze it, and then articulate a solution. That is powerful and valuable.

— Eric Caesar, Business Professor, Rio Hondo College

The story of Lemelson-MIT

We know our methodology works thanks to 20 years of offering InvenTeams grants to high school student teams across the U.S. Building on that work, we’ve developed activities and curriculum to expand access to invention education.
